Returning Burns Lake take over first spot in CIHL with two wins over the Wolverines in Hazelton
The Burns Lake Braves moved ahead of the Kitimat Ice Demons into first spot in the Central Interior Hockey League as they registered two wins against the Hazelton Wolverines this past weekend. It was the first two losses on home ice for the Wolverines and was a welcome relief for the Braves who are trying to re-establish themselves. The Braves beat the Wolverines 4-3 in a hotly contested game Saturday and 6-4 in the Sunday matinee.

The Kitimat Ice Demons, despite a 5-4 win over the Smithers Steelheads on Saturday, were idle Sunday and watched as Burns Lake took over the league lead with 10 points compared to the Demons’ nine.

Williams Lake Stampeders for the second time in three weeks took all four points from short-handed western Division teams as they defeated the Houston Luckies 5-2 Saturday and 5-3 Sunday, in Williams Lake.

The Prince Rupert Rampage consolidated their position at third place in the Western Division (tied with Hazelton Wolverines) with two wins over the still winless Omenica Ice in Vanderhoof.

This coming weekend the Rampage travels to Kitimat for a Hallowe’en game against the Demons, Hazelton plays in Terrace and the Houston Luckies will host the Burns Lake Braves in a resumption of hostilities between these two teams.
