Kitimat Ice Demons clinch league title with two games to go, while traffic jam continues in the East Division
The Kitimat Ice Demons, for the third season in succession, won the Lightening Cup as CIHL regular season champions on Sunday with the second of two resounding wins over the traveling Omineca Ice. With a 10-3 win Saturday and a 7-0 win Sunday, the Ice Demons ran their season points total to 25, while nearest rivals, the Smithers Steelheads could only add two points in their last game of the season, with an 8-4 win over East Division Burns Lake Braves in Burns Lake.

The win gave Smithers a total of 24 points, while the Sunday win gave the Ice Demons 25 points, with two remaining games against last-place Terrace River Kings.

In the East Division the Houston Luckies went into top spot alone, with 18 points, after thrashing the Terrace River Kings 9-2.

This weekend set of game will finalize playoff positions as the third place Prince Rupert Rampage look to clinch the position in Hazelton against the Wolverines. The Wolverines will be going all out for a win to earn a playoff spot against the first-place Demons.

The Demons meanwhile, will be playing Terrace in Terrace on Friday night and hosting the River Kings in Kitimat Saturday to wind up the regular season.

In the East Burns Lake, will travel to Williams Lake for a pair of games with the Stampeders and the division-leading Luckies will wind up their season against last place Vanderhoof in a double-header.
