| All teams have now seen action in both divisions of the CIHL and Terrace takes two wins in Smithers | |
The last of the CIHL clubs got into action finally this past week-end as the Terrace River Kings traveled to Smithers to launch their season with a pair of wins, 5 - 4 Saturday, in a comeback and 4 – 1 on Sunday after allowing the first goals. Steve Cullis provided the tie breaker Saturday night after the teams were deadlocked at 4-4 in the third period. On Sunday afternoon, after the teams were tied 1 – 1 in the third period, the Kings pushed hard and Smithers couldn’t stem the tide as Dustin Quezadda, Derek Jurista and Team Captain Dan Nadeau put the puck in the net for the win. In Williams Lake, the Kitimat Ice Demons and Stampeders split a pair of games in regular time, with the Ice Demons riding some good Jamie Moran goaltending Saturday to win 6 – 2, with a goal flurry in the second. Demons scorers were Kory Finn, Tyler Daum, Darren Webb, Scott McGregor, Ian Coleman and Craig Hewitson, unassisted in the third. Stamps goals came from Ryan Fehler and Francis Johnson. On Sunday, Stamps got back in the win column, 5-4, as goaltender Mike Taylor stood tall against the Demons’ attack and Francis Johnson had he breakaway unassisted winner in the third period. Demons scorers, Craig Hewitson (2), Jared Revel and Jeff Mildenberger. Stamps had their other goals from Dan Huska (2), Ryan Fehler and Ryan Conlin. Stamps Wes Reid earned two game misconducts and was ejected from both games. In other league action the Omenica Ice had two wins in 100 Mile House over the Bears, by scores of 5-4 Saturday night and 8 – 7 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon. It was the Bears second shootout loss, but they earned a point for the tie, for their second point of the season. | |
